technical tuition required to produce first class toolmakers.
Our Training systems are nationally recognised and certified
by the engineering authority, Emta Awards Ltd (EAL) and The Sector Skills
Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies (SEMTA),
which includes certified NVQ qualifications to all levels.

Our success owes a great deal to our investment in training over
the last 20 years. A large proportion of our skilled toolmakers and
technicians are JEB trained. Some have progressed to senior management
positions whilst still in their mid twenties.
We can offer a well-structured Advanced Modern Apprenticeship, which will
give you both practical skills and internationally recognised qualifications.
Modern apprenticeships
Our Modern Apprenticeships, offered in conjunction with EAL, SEMTA and LSC
Suffolk, centre on the achievement of National Vocational Qualifications at
Levels 2 and 3, including optional modules relevant to the Company's needs.
Most of the Modern Apprentices on our course will follow either the
Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics programme for EAL
qualifications.
Our purpose-built, dedicated Training Centre within the main factory at
Hampstead Avenue, Mildenhall, is well equipped with lathes, mills, grinders,
sheet metal working equipment, a welding bay, bench fitting area and IT
section for 6 first year apprentices. The Training Centre is staffed by the
Training Officer who has a wealth of engineering experience and is qualified
as an Internal Verifier and NVQ Assessor. We also have a further three qualified NVQ Assessors to
supervise training in the different departments.
BTEC National Certificate and HNC courses are studied on day release at local
colleges throughout the four year apprenticeship and selected Modern
Apprentices can progress to part time HND and degree courses in Engineering/Electrical
Engineering at local universities, sponsored by the company.
Apprentice Program
All Modern Apprentices benefit from key skills training in the application of
number, communication, IT, working with others, problem solving and personal
development.
There are regular monthly assessments to monitor the progress the Modern
Apprentice is making towards fulfilling the requirements of his/her Modern
Apprenticeship Plan.
Assignments in the different departments of the company - the Toolroom,
Design Centre, Production, Maintenance and Wire Erosion Departments - allow a
Modern Apprentice to extend his or her basic skills and also to find out
where strengths and interests lie.
At the end of the Modern Apprenticeship, the Apprentice is allocated to a
department on the basis of his/her abilities and in accordance with the
company's needs. He/she will now have the skills to embark on a rewarding and
interesting career with a variety of paths available in a successful and
expanding company.
Possible future careers include Design Engineer, Production Technician,
Maintenance Engineer, Service Engineer, Wire Erosion Technician, Sales
Engineer, Development Engineer, as well as Toolmaker. Much of the company's
success is attributed to the versatility of our skilled employees who derive
a high level of job satisfaction from their ability to undertake a range of
engineering roles.
It is the company's policy to recruit from within whenever possible and the
opportunity exits to reach the most senior management levels.
